Academic Ambition with Purpose

At Springdales, achievement is built on understanding rather than memorisation alone. Learning is designed to encourage enquiry, reasoning, purposeful collaboration and meaningful connections between subjects and real-life contexts. Students are expected to explain their thinking, consider different perspectives and take increasing ownership of their learning. Assessment and feedback help teachers identify precise next steps, provide timely support and deepen challenge for learners who are ready to go further.

Our performance in international assessments provides an important external measure of this ambition. Springdales achieved an average score of 610 in PIRLS 2021, exceeding the school target and standing well above the international benchmark. More recently, our Grade 8 students achieved a TIMSS 2023 Mathematics score of 636 and Science score of 632, reflecting strong achievement in internationally benchmarked learning. Reading, mathematical thinking, scientific enquiry and the ability to apply knowledge remain central to our academic priorities.

In Kindergarten (KG), learning comes alive through purposeful play, language, movement, exploration and discovery. Guided by the EYFS framework, our play-based and experiential approach nurtures every child across the seven areas of learning. A rich range of co-curricular and extracurricular experiences further develops creativity, confidence, curiosity and essential life skills. As students move through Primary and Middle School, learning becomes increasingly investigative, interdisciplinary and independent. In the senior years, subject choices, career-related experiences and university encounters support informed decisions about future study and pathways.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

At Springdales School Dubai, students from Grade 11 have the opportunity to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an independent research-based qualification accredited by Oxford AQA. The EPQ helps students develop valuable skills in research, critical thinking, academic writing, project management and independent learning, providing excellent preparation for university-level study.

Inclusion: Belonging, Participation and Progress

Inclusion is not an additional provision at Springdales; it is part of how we understand good education. Through SAWA - meaning “Together” in Arabic - we recognise that students learn in different ways and may require different routes to success. Our provision supports Students of Determination, learners developing English-language proficiency, and Able, Gifted and Talented students, with personalised academic support alongside attention to wellbeing, independence and full participation in school life.

This commitment was recognised at SPEDCON 2025, where Springdales received the Beacon of Inclusion - Best Inclusive School Award. The school has also achieved Unified School status through the Unified Champion Schools programme of Special Olympics UAE, strengthening opportunities for students to learn, participate and succeed together.

Our SEND Alternative Pathway, introduced in April 2025, provides a personalised route for students who benefit from a different educational pathway. It combines functional literacy and numeracy with financial understanding, daily living skills, vocational preparation and entrepreneurship, while ensuring that students remain active members of mainstream school life. Our annual Embracing Inclusion event, involving more than 26 schools and centres, extends this philosophy beyond our campus and celebrates ability, dignity and meaningful participation.

Innovation, AI and Future-Ready Learning

Innovation at Springdales is experienced through what students investigate, design, test and create. STEM learning includes coding, robotics, design thinking and 3D printing, helping students connect knowledge across disciplines and apply it to authentic challenges. A growing STEM pathway, practical projects and enrichment opportunities encourage experimentation, persistence and the confidence to refine an idea when the first attempt does not work.

Artificial Intelligence is explored both across the curriculum and as a dedicated area of learning, with age-appropriate attention to practical application, digital citizenship, responsible use and critical evaluation of information. Robotics and technology experiences further strengthen computational thinking and problem-solving. Financial Literacy from Grades 3-8, skill-based learning and practical Middle School experiences broaden this future-ready curriculum beyond conventional subject boundaries.

Students extend their learning through opportunities such as Girls in AI, the Emirates Aviation University AI and Data Science Competition and the Formula 1 in Schools UAE National Finals. These experiences allow learners to work with emerging technologies, solve problems collaboratively and present their ideas to audiences beyond the classroom.

Talent, Character and Student Leadership

A Springdales education gives students room to discover what they enjoy, what they are good at and where their interests might lead. Sport, music, dance, art, practical activities and enrichment clubs complement academic learning. Model United Nations and debate strengthen research, communication and public-speaking skills, while clubs in areas such as financial literacy, biomedical science, aerospace and reading allow students to pursue interests in greater depth.

Our sporting successes include four gold medals at the CBSE UAE Cluster Swimming Championship and a runner-up finish at the CBSE UAE Cluster Basketball Championship. Behind every result is a wider commitment to participation, discipline, teamwork, resilience and healthy lifestyles.

Leadership is developed through authentic responsibility. The prefectural board and house system enable students to organise, represent, mentor and contribute to school improvement. Student voice is increasingly woven into school life, helping young people understand that leadership is not simply a title but the ability to listen, act responsibly and make a positive difference.

Student Representation – Dubai Student Council

The Dubai Students Council (DSC) announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, launched by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) Dubai to amplify student voices and nurture leadership skills

The Structure and Membership Comprises 16 high-performing students from Grades 9 to 12 (Years 10 to 13). Members represent 16 different private schools, spanning six curricula and nine nationalities. Includes Emirati students and students of determination, maintaining an equal gender balance. The Selection is through a rigorous vetting process involving interviews and group activities overseen by experts.

Springdales School Dubai is also proud to have students represented on the Dubai Student Council, providing them with a platform to share their perspectives, contribute to discussions on matters affecting young people and engage with students from schools across Dubai. Through this opportunity, our students develop student voice, leadership, communication, collaboration and civic responsibility, while representing the school and contributing positively to the wider educational community in Dubai.

Arabic, Islamic Education and moral, social and cultural learning sit alongside wider opportunities for civic engagement, community service and global awareness.

Environmental responsibility forms part of this outlook. Springdales received the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award in 2019, and students continue to engage with recycling, waste reduction, sustainability awareness and community initiatives. Family participation through shared reading, service activities and environmental action reinforces the idea that education carries a responsibility to contribute beyond oneself.

A Campus Designed for Possibility

Our purpose-designed Al Quoz campus provides spaces for academic study, experimentation, sport, creativity and collaboration. Science laboratories, library and resource facilities, an indoor swimming pool, athletics facilities, indoor sports courts, dance studios and sheltered outdoor play areas give students varied environments in which to learn and grow.

Equally important is the community within those spaces. Through Friends of Springdales School (FOSS), class parent representatives, school events and regular communication, families are active partners in school life. Parents contribute to reading, projects and community initiatives, strengthening the connection between home and school.
