An Unforgettable Expedition: Springdales Japan Adventure 2023

We have made yet another step towards becoming the most desirable CBSE school in Dubai, by re-introducing our study tours for the first time since Covid. During the first week and a half of the summer break Springdales students and teachers embarked on an exhilarating journey and a memorable trip to Japan from July 9th to July 16th, 2023. Their whirlwind adventure spanned bustling cities, technological wonders, cultural gems, and culinary explorations, offering a panoramic view of Japan’s rich tapestry.

Setting Off: The expedition kicked off at Dubai Airport’s Terminal 2, where the group gathered at 7:30 pm GST, brimming with excitement. Their Korean Air flight awaited them, the check-in process proved chaotic, especially with Indian passport holders facing unexpected hurdles. With determination and assistance from airport staff, approvals were secured, and the group made it onboard just in time.

Day 1 — Arrival in Tokyo: Touching down at Incheon International Airport in Seoul for a layover, the journey continued with a flight to Narita Airport in Tokyo. The group faced non-vegetarian culinary setbacks on the flights. Despite this, they arrived in Tokyo at around 8:30 pm local time. After a lengthy airport process, they reached the “MyStay Gotanda Station” hotel by 12:30 am. After a quick dinner, students turned in for a well-deserved rest.

Day 2 — Tokyo Exploration: An early start marked the exploration of Tokyo’s iconic landmarks. The day included visits to Tokyo Tower, the royal palace, and the vibrant Harajuku market. A traditional tea ceremony at the Meiji Jingu Shrine provided cultural immersion. Students also experienced the bustling Shibuya Crossing and indulged in a Malaysian dinner.

Day 3 — Technological Marvels: The students delved into Japan’s technological prowess, visiting the Epson factory and Tsukuba University’s advanced technology museum. The day ended with an immersive experience at the JAXA Space Museum, where students interacted with real-time space operations.

Day 4 — Suwa Expedition: Suwa, Nagano, offered insights into innovative glassmaking and scientific experiments. A scenic drive through the mountainous region was punctuated by a visit to a glass factory and a local shrine. The day ended with a taxi ride back to the hotel, allowing students to recharge.

Day 5 — Immersive Learning: A visit to Tsukuba University and the Miraikan Museum immersed students in biotechnology, coding, and space exploration. A Tajikistani dinner capped the day before a late-night gathering to celebrate the trip’s impending end.

Day 6 — Tsukuba and Beyond: The group explored TEPIA Advanced Technology Gallery and the Asakusa Sensoji Temple, absorbing insights into emerging technologies and spiritual landmarks. The day concluded with a flavorful Tajikistani dinner.

Day 7 — Last Day in Japan: The journey’s final day was spent shopping for anime goods in Akihabara, indulging in delicious Turkish cuisine, and reflecting on the trip’s incredible experiences.

Day 8 — Homeward Bound: As the trip concluded, early morning preparations and a long journey back marked the final day in Japan. From flights to immigration and baggage collection, the students returned to their families with unforgettable memories and valuable experiences.

The Springdales’ Japan adventure was a perfect blend of education, exploration, and enjoyment. The students immersed themselves in the learning of biotechnology, coding, and space exploration whilst using the opportunity to immerse in Japan’s diverse culture, technological marvels, and historical landmarks, leaving with a deep appreciation for this captivating country. The trip will undoubtedly remain etched in their memories as an experience that enriched their understanding of the world around them.
